The June summary prodded me to try to find the Nature episode I had told you about. Alas, all PBS shows are on a pay-to-view system. But I did find a show listing and the one I was thinking about was from October 1989. (God, how time has flown.) It was a three part series on Africa's Rift Valley. The titles are "The Great Rift: Footprints in the Valley", "The Great Rift: Out of the Ashes" and "The Great Rift: Breaking the Continent". I do not remember which on contained the flamingos.
