You had me at nostalgia... and not looking at phones!

Oh, Lara, thank you for transporting me with your beautiful writing and photographs. I love fairs. I visited several through the years, it was always an enjoyable time. But I must say the last time I've been to one was a few years before the pandemic. I hope we get some more fairs soon.

Thank you for the nostalgia! I have never been to fairs of this scale in the USA, only smaller scale ones in Toronto Canada. Such an interesting combination of games, rides, and food though. As a kid, I liked the rides, as an adult, the food. Haha, good times.

You captured the essence of the South Florida Fair and what fairs mean across the country. Your descriptions brought a smile to my face. I love how fairs bring families together who return annually as part of a wonderful tradition. It's a nice break from having one's head looking down at a cell phone!

Loved that view from up on the Ferris wheel. Good article and pointed up how the fair keeps up grounded, connected to each other in real time and not via the crap electronic world. thanks

Lara, Your wonderful descriptions of the colorful life at the fair brought back some of my memories of past fairs. All those memories are great of carefree, happy times. In these hectic, unsettling days, maybe one of the best things to do it "go back to the fair" and absorb the fun and joy!!! Thank you for reminding us that Life Is Good.

You’ve done a great job describing fairs across the country! I think they’re all the same! I had fun a few years ago (when my “good” camera went everywhere with me) going to the annual 4th of July carnival in our hometown. The kids were pretty much grown up by this time so I went just to take photos. I just looked through them now and you have completely captured with words what my poor photos show. Thanks for the memory!
