Hi Richard: Thanks for stopping by and for subscribing! Palm beach County is rapidly changing, some ways good, some ways not good. There are certainly people and places that are being squeezed right now. I did not add (but learned recently) that the photography center downtown is going through something similar as well as Subculture coffee.

Great timely article. So many of us have lived in our cities for many years, for a good reason--we love it there. Out of state and city developers are coming in and destroying these places. It is extremely important for citizens to pay attention who they vote for and put in charge of okaying these changes, which make huge impacts on our daily lives.

Yes, I agree it seems like whenever there is a dry piece of undeveloped land, then it is ripe for the developing. But that’s simply just not Florida. Florida is itself a nature preserve, I do have high hopes for the people of Wellington, I think they will be able to fight back and win.

The country is being sold right out from under us to foreign real estate speculators.

A good article. This is indicative of so many places in America now. And it seems the money always wins. Never underestimate the corruptibility of any politician at any level of government.

I know a man who grew up in Colorado and now lives in Tennessee. He told me that growing up, Colorado was a great place to live. Not so much now. I asked, "Is that because all the people who ruined California have now moved to Colorado?" "Pretty much," was his answer.

Nashville is also a place that has been a victim of its own success.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Yes I think there’s a lot of places that have experience this, especially on fast track over the last few years. And an easy thing to do sometimes although it can be difficult and its own way is to move. However, if people end up organizing and putting extreme pressure on politicians, I do believe things can get done at the hyper local level. Such as the case with Wellington, Florida. I believe the citizens there will prevail.

It’s definitely getting a bit crowded in South Florida these days. I’ve been living here for over 20 years and have seen so many changes. The traffic is really annoying!

Yes, I think we all know that somethings going on, especially with regards to traffic, but when you start going deeper into the stories of individuals in the area, many longtime residents are being deeply impacted by the drastic changes. It’s funny, because originally the story was going to be only about bennys on the beach and the way they were almost pushed out of their lease. However, as I did more research, I realized there’s a lot more going on around the county.
