It truly was a betrayal of trust. The constituents (equestrian and non-equestrian) don’t want this, at all. And yet, they keep pushing it down our throats. They are NOT listening to the people who elected them. Two are terming out. One is moving on (she hopes) to bigger politics. But, if you can’t listen to your constituents now, why would we elect you again? The whole thing makes no sense, except as a massive money grab. Southshore Blvd construction will be a minimum of three years, with the road being shut down completely. Can you imagine the irate moms trying to get their kids to Polo Park and Panther Run in the mornings? And, for what? To make developers richer, combine a horse show venue that even the equestrians do not want, while destroying the last and largest wetland left in Wellington. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ‘πŸ» Great job Village Council! Good luck in your future political careers. 😑

Thanks for reading and commenting. It appears that this is a highly unpopular move by the council and they should be held to scrutiny. They are elected people not the monarchy.

I’ve always liked that Wellington was quieter and more quaint then, say Boca, but lately if I happen to be out there, it’s just as bad. Traffic is always horrible. So many people. And so much construction. But I guess that’s an issue in much of South Florida. πŸ˜•

Hey Susi, thanks for commenting. Key word here is β€œwas.” It was quiet. We have multiple big projects going on within two miles of the other and congestion is an issue. Also, a major issue is the equestrian preserve, because that is land zoned for specific land use, and they want to change that into something different. So it’s definitely angering a lot of people out here. 🐴🐴

This is a great piece, very thorough. Disheartening every last bit of green space and wetlands just looks like a place to pave over and make money for developers and there's literally 3-5 people in every town who get to decide, no oversight but for the voters who can't babysit their elected officials 24/7 and even when they do...
